Service Description

A relaxed, creative clay session designed especially for homeschooling families. Join us at our peaceful Mount Tom property for a fortnightly handbuilding pottery workshop where children can freely explore clay and create whatever inspires them. Rather than following a set project, children will be encouraged to experiment, imagine and make at their own pace. Whether that’s creatures, bowls, mugs, tiny treasures or abstract creations. The workshop is designed to support creativity, sensory play and fine motor skill development in a calm, nature-filled environment. Suitable for homeschoolers of all ages, with guidance tailored to each child’s stage and abilities. • 1hr handbuilding or glazing session • Fortnightly sessions available at our Mount Tom property (book and pay per session) • $30 per child, per session • All tools, clay and guidance included • Max 10 participants per session NOTE: To create a fully finished piece, 2 bookings will be required - one to shape the clay, the other to glaze it. We will also clear glaze it afterwards, to make the items food-safe. Because clay requires drying time and multiple firings before it can be used, children will have the option at their next fortnightly session to either: • create something completely new, or • glaze a previous creation ready for final firing. This ongoing format allows children to slowly build skills and confidence with clay while enjoying the process of creating by hand. CREATIONS: Each child’s work will look completely different and that’s exactly the point. Some children may create functional pieces, while others may enjoy decorative, imaginative or experimental forms. We value the creativity and individuality in every piece made. OUR SPACE: We have a handwashing space on-site and our class area is undercover but outdoors. We have a number of animals on site, that may say hello during the class, including dogs, chickens and more. IMPORTANT: While we do hold a Blue Card, parents/guardians are asked to remain on-site during the workshop. PLEASE NOTE: Creations will be ready for collection approximately 2 weeks after glazing - which would take place in a separate 2nd booking, 2 weeks after handbuilding the clay. So to have a 'finished' creation, you need to book 2 sessions.

Cancellation Policy

Children's workshops are designed for home-schooled children up to age 18. (Sorry parents can't play, but we'd love to have you back for a 2hr workshop where YOU get a break). Each booking is for 1 x 1hr session. We recommend booking 1 session with the intention of shaping clay and 1 session to come back and glaze your pieces. If you only book 1 session, we will bisque fire your pieces and hold onto them for 2 months from your booking. If you don't book a return session to glaze within that timeframe, your creations will be recycled. If you are unable to attend your booking can be rescheduled or cancelled until 48hrs before your session starts. After that time, you can invite a friend in your place (and swap money with them if that matters to you). Pottery will be ready to collect 4-5 weeks after the first session, either from the studio at your next booking, or in-person at the markets in Agnes Water.
