Service Description
An Open Creative Session is a 2-hour, self-guided clay experience designed for adults who want space to create without the structure of a traditional class. Held in a calm, studio setting, this session offers the freedom to explore clay at your own pace, with gentle guidance available from Johanna if needed. These sessions are best suited to those who don't need a lot of guidance, or who have played with clay before. There is no set project or outcome, just the opportunity to sit with clay and see what emerges. Whether it’s a functional piece, a sculptural form, or something completely experimental, each creation is shaped by personal expression rather than instruction. Each session is $80pp and includes: • 2-hour Open Creative Session. • All clay, glazes tools and materials provided. • Drying and firing handled by the studio (no extra charges). • Non-instructional guidance from Johanna - think 'free-play' with a hand if you need it. • Handbuilding or glazing focus (no wheel use). Max. 10 participants per session. After the first session, pieces are dried and bisque-fired by Johanna. Participants can then return for a second session (paid separately) to use any of our studio underglazes and glazes to finalise their work. Johanna will fire the pieces once more before they'll be ready for collection 2 weeks later at the Agnes Water markets. This is a space for slowing down, experimenting, and reconnecting with making, without pressure, expectations, or a fixed outcome. COLLECTION: Pieces will be held for no more than 2 months after your last booking, after which time the pieces will be recycled. Postage is available if you are travelling (at an extra cost). OUR SPACE: We have a handwashing space on-site and our class area is undercover but outdoors. We have a number of animals on site, that may say hello during the class, including dogs, chickens and more. PLEASE NOTE: Creations will be ready for collection approximately 2 weeks after glazing - which would take place in a separate 2nd booking, 4 weeks after handbuilding the clay. So to have a 'finished' creation, you need to book 2 sessions.
Cancellation Policy
Open Creative Sessions are designed for adults who don't require instructional support in a pottery session. It's a free-play space, where you can create with clay, then book a 2nd session to glaze your creations. Each booking is for 1 x 2hr session. We recommend booking 1 session with the intention of shaping clay and 1 session to come back and glaze your pieces. If you only book 1 session, we will bisque fire your pieces and hold onto them for 2 months from your booking. If you don't book a return session to glaze within that timeframe, your creations will be recycled. If you are unable to attend your booking can be rescheduled or cancelled until 48hrs before your session starts. After that time, you can invite a friend in your place (and swap money with them if that matters to you). Pottery will be ready to collect 2 weeks after the glazing session, either from the studio at your next booking, or in-person at the markets in Agnes Water.
